Controls

  • General Controls
    • Using the Xbox Gamepad for PC, or Mouse and Keyboard:
      • Move the Left Analog Stick to move the character. (Keyboard – W,A,S,D)
      • Move the Right Analog Stick to rotate the camera. (Keyboard –  Move theMouse Up, Down, Left and Right)
      • Press L3 to Equip and Holster your weapon. (Keyboard – V)
      • Press A to Jump (Keyboard – Space)
      • Press Y to parry (Keyboard – X)
        • If you parry successfully, you can press any of the attack buttons to execute a counter. Attack Techniques and Special Techniques can’t be countered. So parries are strong against attacks, weak against feints and techniques. Feints are strong against parries, weak against attacks and techniques. Techniques are strong against parries and feints, but weak against attacks. Attacks are strong against feints and techniques but weak against parries.
      • Press B to evade. (Keyboard – F)
        • Evades are responsive and the animations will change depending on the perceived attack. You can still get hit if you attempt to evade, for example if you’re too close to the attack or if you press it too late, so be careful.
      • Press R3 to toggle Target Lock on and off. (Keyboard – T, or Middle Mouse Button)
        • Flick the Right Analog Stick Left (Keyboard Q, or Middle Mouse Button Down) to switch to previous target.
        • Flick the Right Analog Stick Right (Keyboard E, or Middle Mouse Button Up) to switch to next target.
      • Press RT and LT to attack. (Right and Left Mouse Buttons respectively)
        • RT is for heavy attacks, LT is for light attacks.
        • Heavy attacks are generally slower but deliver more damage than Light attacks, and versa. (Still, you might not feel the speed and/or damage change cos you’re basically gonna be starting out at level 0).
      • For Attack Techniques, the A button is the modifier. (Keyboard – Space)
        • Press the attack buttons in conjunction with the modifier to execute the Attack Techniques.
        • For example, press RT + A, or LT + A. (Left Mouse Button + Space, or Right Mouse Button + Space)
      • For Special Techniques, the RB button is the modifier. (Keyboard – R)
        • Press RB, then press A, X, B or Y (Keyboard Space, Z, F, or Xrespectively) within .5 secs to execute a Special Technique.
      • Press and Hold RB to charge up your energy bar. (Keyboard –R)
      • Press Start to pause the game. (Keyboard – P)
  • Class – Specific Controls
    • Using the Xbox Gamepad for PC:
      • SwordMeister Class:
        • Press X to Feint (Keyboard – Z )
          • If you execute a feint and your opponent attempts to parry, your char automatically executes a counter, and you can keep attacking. But feints are not attacks by themselves, so they leave you open to attacks (if your opponent doesn’t take the bait).
      • Ranger Class
        • Press X to Quick Attack (Melee Combat) (Keyboard – Z)
        • Press LT to Draw the bow. (Keyboard – Right Mouse Button)
        • Press RT to shoot an arrow. (Keyboard – Left Mouse Button)
  • General Info
    • The main modes to test for are:
      • Survival (War Concept): In this mode, you fight as a lone warrior determined to survive the etchings of The Weaver of Chaos on the battlefield.
        • Main Menu>The Bane of Urd>Free Battle>Survival (War Concept)
        • With every kill, you gain experience points, and upon a level up, your health and energy are refilled, and increased.
        • If another character steals your kill, and he’s not allied with you, you don’t get the experience points for that kill.
        • Try to see how long you can last.
      • Versus: Play against the AI or another player in this classic battle mode.
        •  Main Menu>The Bane of Urd>Free Battle>Versus
        • To play against the AI, select 1P vs COM in the Versus Settings Screen.
        • To play against another player on the same computer (Local Multiplayer with split screen), select 1P vs 2P in the Versus Settings Screen.
        • Leave it on Single Match. Team Match is coming soon.
        • Proceed to the Character Select Screen and select characters for you and your opponent.
        • After your characters are confirmed, select your arena of choice, and the time limit. Selecting 00:00 sets the timer to infinite.
        • Sento Kaishin! Hajime! Battle!
      • Online and LAN Multiplayer modes (Host/Join Dungeon).
    • Multiplayer Modes:
      • Host Dungeon: Host an Online or LAN game against other players.
        • Main Menu>The Bane of Urd>Host Dungeon
        • Enter the server name you wish, select your connection type, and the maximum number of players on this server.
        • In the lobby, select your character. The Host can kick players.
        • Click Start Session to commence the battle.
      • Join Dungeon: Join an Online or LAN game.
        • Main Menu>The Bane of Urd>Join Dungeon
        • Select your Play Method (connection type), and search for a valid host.
        • Join the lobby, select your character and wait for the Host to start the game.
        • Enjoy!
      • To Chat:
        • Press T on the Keyboard to bring up the cursor.
        • Click on the Textfield in the Chat Window to show the blinking cursor for typing.
        • Type to chat.
      • The Server can kick players by using the Game Settings Menu in the Lobby.
      • Multiplayer(Online/LAN) refers to play across individual computers across a network(s).
    • Attack Techniques also utilize energy.
    • If you have a valid Steam account, launch Steam (tested on Windows), then launch the Alpha. You should see the Steam API and UI show up in the game. You can press Shift + Tab to see the Steam Overlay. With Steam connected, you can Host and Join Dungeons Online and across a LAN network.
  • About the Character Classes
    • Each class has unique attributes.
    • For the Assassins, it’s jumping power, close combat reflexes, and speed.
    • The SwordMeisters are good all-rounders, with good reach and reliable parries.
    • The Drachenritter obviously have the longest reach, and also the highest mid range combat action speeds.
    • The Vorhut are really good at evading and parrying.
    • The Rangers of course are experts at long range, but also have quick melee attacks, evades, and parries.
